Denture Care

Your Dentures / Partials are made of high quality materials and need to be
maintained regularly.

Cleaning your Dentures and Partial Dentures:

Rinse out your mouth after every meal, to prevent food particles, staining, or tartar build-up on both the acrylic tooth and the plate.
Take out your dentures every night and place them in a container filled with denture cleaning solution (Efferdent, Polydent, Renew…). By cleaning your dentures overnight you allow your gum tissues to rest and heal from being covered all day.
Brushing your remaining teeth, gums and denture with a soft-bristled toothbrush, is another way to ensure good oral health, as well as remove odour-causing bacteria.
Do not clean with hot water, abrasive cleaners or chlorinated products, as they can damage your denture.

Annual Check-Ups:

To ensure that you are in good oral health, it is necessary to return to your Denturist for an exam every year. At this appointment the Denturist will check your denture for wear and fit, examine the condition of your gums, and polish your dentures.

A Good Routine to Follow:

Have your dentures checked annually
Reline your dentures every 2-3 years
Replace your dentures every 5-6 years, depending on the amount of wear
on the teeth and the shrinking of the gums.
